Galveston College held its annual fiesta to conclude Hispanic Heritage Month on Oct. 15, 2026, in the Seibel Wing, bringing the campus community together for an afternoon of food, music, games and cultural celebration.
The festivities opened with a lively ballet folklórico performance by the Ball High School Hispanic Dance Team, setting the tone for an afternoon highlighting Hispanic and Latino cultures.
Attendees participated in games and activities, received giveaways and picked up free, limited-edition GC Fiesta T-shirts. Outside on the Seibel Wing Lawn, students took turns swinging at a traditional piñata, with candy and other goodies spilling out when it was finally cracked open.
GC Culinary Arts students prepared a selection of traditional foods and beverages, including pork skewers, empanadas, aguas frescas and polvorones. The Hispanic Student Organization added an interactive element with a soda-tasting featuring popular drinks from several Latin American countries, including traditional games like Loteria.
The annual event was organized by Galveston College Student Activities, the Hispanic Student Organization, the Student Government Association and the college’s Marketing and Communication Department.
