Galveston College students, faculty and staff, along with GC President Tracee L. Watts, Ed.D., participated in a campus walk on Oct. 19, 2026, at the Seibel Wing in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The walk raised awareness of breast cancer and showed support for individuals affected by the disease.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 321,910 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the United States in 2026. The college community’s walk served as a visible reminder of the importance of early detection, education and continued research.

Participants received free pink Galveston College breast cancer awareness T-shirts before the walk.
