GALVESTON, Texas – Galveston College’s five-member team placed three runners in the Top 3 places of their respective categories at the Galveston County Daily News 11th Annual Press Run in late October.

Andrea Wiste placed second in the women’s 45-49 category for the 5K race with a time of 26:58, Eva Rios placed third in the same category for the 10K race with a time of 1:06:22, Zech Lucero claimed second place in the men’s 25-29 age group with a time of 34:49 in the 5K run and Andres Monterrubio received an honorable mention in the men’s 35-39 category in the 5K with a time of 29:50.

“I enjoy representing Galveston College as a participant and I am proud that we are a sponsor of the annual Press Run,” said Galveston College Assistant Director of Admissions and Records, Andrea Wiste. “I love that the race proceeds support the Newspapers in Education cause. Literacy, reading comprehension and critical thinking concerning world events are all invaluable skills necessary for our students to develop through their education.”

Over 500 adults and children participated in this year’s Press Run, which crossed the Galveston causeway and finished back at The Daily News.
