The Galveston College Dual Credit program recognized 16-year-old Ball High School junior Victoria Miranda and GC Dual Credit Instructor, Darin Larkin, as the fall 2025 GC Outstanding Dual Credit Student and Faculty.

“It makes me feel accomplished in all my work because I view school as a priority,” said Miranda. “I’m really happy my hard work was recognized.”

She says she has enjoyed the college experience and her goal is to earn an associate degree through GC’s Dual Credit program.
“It’s nice and I like all the instructors, they help you out a lot,” said Miranda. “I’m planning to get my associate degree. It’s not too hard. Testing can be a challenge, but I’ve learned to work through it.”

Larkin, who has been teaching dual credit for more than 20 years at GC, was honored for the recognition by his students.
“It’s a nice honor, especially since the students nominated me,” said Larkin. “That means a lot whenever the students recognize you. Its been a great experience teaching dual credit.”

Their achievements underscore the impact that committed instructors and motivated students can have on academic success.

“Victoria’s achievement is a reflection of her hard work and resilience. Dual credit isn’t always easy, but with strong support and motivated students, we continue to see incredible outcomes like this across our program,” said GC Student Success Advisor for Dual Credit, Alisha McCracken. “Mr. Larkin’s recognition speaks volumes about the connection he builds with students. When instructors are invested at this level, it changes the entire student experience and leads to achievements like Victoria’s.”
