Galveston College Whitecaps softball recently signed three senior standouts from Bridge City High School in Bridge City, Texas.

Galveston College Head Coach and Director of Athletics Christa Hartnett made the trip to Bridge City on Nov. 13 to sign Cardinal catcher Abby Anderson, third baseman Caitlin Denison and left fielder Aleah McClanahan.

Bridge City Head Coach Kayla Gallardo, family members and friends were on hand for the event. Jordan Haynes and Dane’e Crawford are assistant softball coaches at Bridge City.

Anderson has received a number of accolades, including 2016 District 24-4A all-district honorable mention, 2016 varsity letterman in track, 2017-2018 24-4A all-district honorable mention and the 2018 Cardinal Heard Award for softball. A member of the 2016 USFA Western National Champions, she plays for the Orange Crush Gold 18 and under team and competed in the USA Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City in 2016.

A four-year varsity starter for softball, Denison was named first-team all-district third baseman her sophomore and junior years. She was named most valuable defensive player on The Orange Leader’s all-district first team; KOGT named her first-team all-district third baseman. She also received academic all-district recognition her junior year, played on the varsity basketball team for two years and was a cross country state qualifier her freshman year.

A three-year varsity softball player, McClanahan was named most valuable outfield player in 2018. She was named second-team all-district in 2018 and to The Orange Leader’s all-district first team in 2017 and 2018. A three-year varsity volleyball player, she was named first-team honorable mention for District 22-4A volleyball in 2018, most valuable defensive player in 2017 and first-team all-district in 2017. KOGT named her first-team all-district in 2017. She received the Cardinal Heard Award for softball in 2016 and was named most aggressive volleyball player in 2016.
