Student Thuy Ngo
Student Thuy Ngo works on a class project in the Culinary Arts lab at Galveston College.

Chef Paul Mendoza and his Culinary Arts students at Galveston College invite the public to join them for the spring scholarship lunch on Thursday, March 8, at 11:30 a.m. in the Atrium of the Northen Building on the Galveston College main campus, at 4015 Avenue Q, Galveston.

In a break from tradition, the students will present a garde manger buffet with a variety of appetizers and savory bites.

The buffet project is the culmination of the students’ study of charcuterie products like sausages, pates and terrines, as well as smoking and curing of meats/fish, hors d’oeuvres, salads and condiments.

There will be sweet items for dessert as well.

Tickets are $20, and reservations may be made by calling Mari Macias at (409) 944-1404. Proceeds help fund Culinary Arts scholarships for deserving students.
