Whitecaps Baseball Honored Leading up to NJCAA Region XIV Tournament

The conference coaches voted on the All-Conference selections, and the members of our conference who will be nominated for All-Region yesterday. Galveston College Baseball had 8 players named All-Conference, and 4 players who have been nominated for All-Region (if they make the All-Region team they are automatically nominated for NJCAA All-American Honors)

GC Softball Concludes Another Successful Season

The Galveston College softball team concluded their 2017 season this past Monday while participating in the Region XIV Softball Tournament, Monday, May 6th thru Tuesday, May 9th, hosted by Angelina College in Lufkin, TX. In the 1st day of play on Saturday, Galveston defeated Tyler, on the 2nd day of play on Sunday, Blinn defeated Galveston College, and on the 3rd day of play on Monday, Angelina eliminated Galveston from the tournament with a 6-5 loss.

Galveston College’s Waddell Receives Liberty Bell Award

Theron Waddell holds the Liberty Bell Award that was presented to him at the Galveston County Young Lawyer’s Association luncheon recently as he stands with Galveston County Bar Association member and Galveston College Regent Michael B. Hughes. The Liberty Bell Award is given to a non-lawyer citizen who has contributed greatly to the Galveston County community. As a 48 year faculty member of Galveston College, Waddell has taught Texas and Federal Government to three generations of students.

Galveston College Graduates Leadership Galveston 2017

Galveston College’s Continuing Education Division graduated the 2017 Leadership Galveston class consisting of twenty-one professionals that experienced a seven session, three month exposure to aspects of Galveston Island’s government, community and history. Galveston College has coordinated the program in partnership with the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce that originated the program in 1984 through the inspiration of former Galveston College President John Pickelman. The Chamber ran the program for six years between 1984 and 1990, delivering many professionals to the political and community service arena in Galveston. Galveston College reinvented the program in 1995 and has now graduated 341 Leadership Galveston candidates over a twenty – one year period.

May 22,2017 at 6:30 pm Galveston College’s Law Enforcement Academy Graduation will take place in the Abe and Annie Seibel Wing on the college’s main campus. Doors open at 6:00 pm.
