Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
Stick your Success! Get started as an entry level phlebotomist, and obtain your certification from the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Study the skills used in the performance of a variety of blood collection methods. Study to use proper techniques and safety precautions, as well as an understanding of professionalism, ethics, and medical terminology related to obtaining specimens from adults, children and infants. Healthcare program requirements must be met prior to clinical days. Clinical hours are scheduled at various times by the instructor, and may include day, evening, and/or weekends. Textbook and study guide are included in the tuition. Burgundy scrubs, a lab coat, and student patch are available for purchase in the bookstore, which must be worn during clinical days. Students are responsible for scheduling certification testing and the course includes one attempt at the certification exam, This exam will be scheduled by the instructor and is non-refundable and non-transferable. This program is eligible for a payment plan. Students are automatically enrolled in UTMB student health for the semester.
