The purpose of the work-study program is to provide work experience and financial assistance to eligible students. Under this program a student can work part-time to earn money while enrolled in school. Work Study is available for undergraduate students who are enrolled full-time or part-time (minimum 6 hours). The program encourages community service work and work related to a student's course of study, whenever possible. A student must have financial need which is determined by completing the FAFSA application for Federal Aid. Positions are available on campus as well as off-campus. For off-campus positions, the employer will usually be a private non-profit organization or public agency.
The College Work-Study program is administered by the Financial Aid Office at Galveston College. Students seeking employment may apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Await notification from the Financial Aid Office of your financial aid status. If awarded financial aid or have financial need and meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements, check the Financial Aid Office for current work-study positions available. The student allocations are determined by the availability of funds received from the federal and state resources and the student's eligibility.
