Galveston College is participating in the State Agency's Energy Savings Program
Below are basic steps taken to reduce energy consumption:
Thermostats will be set at 75 degrees F during warm/hot weather months. The goal will be to maintain space/area temperatures within the operative temperature range of 73-79 degrees F during warm/hot weather
Thermostats will be set at 71 degrees F during cool/cold weather months. The goal will be to maintain space/area temperatures within the operative temperature range of 68 - 75 degrees F during cool/cold weather.
Area thermostats will not be re-adjusted for hot or cold calls if the space/area temperatures are within the ASHRAE-55 operative temperature ranges.
The use of electric space heaters will be prohibited on the GC campus. Some electric space heaters are designed to operate up to 1500 Watts. At a typical 120 volts AC outlet, this results in 12.5 amps of electrical current that the heater will use.
