Cosmetology

Galveston College's Cosmetology Program is designed to train students in the basic manipulative skills, safety, judgments, proper work habits, and desirable attitudes necessary to achieve competency in job entry-level skills, obtain licensure, and gainful employment in the field of cosmetology or related career fields. Its our mission to provide training with the opportunity for students career success. Our goal is to develop professional quality learners equip with education and practical experience. Our team will strive to set examples, show leadership, and provide knowledge that leads to a career as a cosmetologist, instructor, and/or in cosmetology sciences and arts.  

All prospective students should pick up a Cosmetology Program application from the Cosmetology Program Director or Student Success Specialist. All applications must be complete and returned to the Galveston College Cosmetology Directory by June3rd for Fall and January 8th for Spring. Applications that are submitted after the deadline will be reviewed at the discretion of the Program Director. Due to limited space availability, we cannot accept every applicant. Successful applicants will be notified by mail/email of acceptance into the program. Applicants not admitted to the program must re-apply each year. There is a mandatory orientation for all students. Orientation will be held at the Applied Technology Center (ATC)in the Cosmetology room before the semester begins.

Galveston College's Cosmetology Program also has the Novalash Extensionist program. This is the 320 hour curriculum approved by TDLR as well as certification through Novalash.

 Admissions Criteria:

1) Complete the college's Admissions Application and submit to the Office of Admissions. For more information on Admissions processes and other Admissions requirements visit the New Student webpage.

2) Complete the Federal Student Aid Application at www.fafsa.gov. For important information regarding Financial priority dates and time lines refer to Galveston College's Financial Aid Homepage.

3) Schedule an appointment with your Student Success Advisor to discuss degree plans, tuition cost, registration, graduation, and any other academic inquiries.
