Application Process

How to apply

Galveston College Upward Bound recruits approximately 15 new participants prior to the beginning of each academic year. In order to apply for the Upward Bound program students must:

  • Attend orientation   
  • Complete an application in English or Spanish. Request evaluation forms to be completed by teachers   
  • Collect documents (copies)
    • Current report card, transcript, attendance records 
    • 8th grade STAAR scores
    • Current STAAR scores
    • Social Security card
    • Alien resident card (front/back if applicable) or I-485 Form if filing for permanent residency
    • Updated immunization/shot record
    • Income verification
    • Insurance card (if applicable) 
    • Birth Certificate
         
  • Submit applications, evaluation forms, and required documents to the Upward Bound office located in room R-290 at Galveston College. Deadline for application submission is April 11, 2014.
  • Complete assessments & interview with an Upward Bound staff member
