STUDENT ORIENTATION - THE ULTIMATE ROAD TRIP DESTINATION:  SUCCESS

Student Orientation is required for new full-time students registering for credit classes.  Part-time and continuing students are encouraged to attend. Galveston College offers three orientation sessions from which you may choose.  Orientation will be held in Room FA-207 on Tuesday, July 25th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, and August 19th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.  Refreshments will be served thirty minutes prior to each session. Free child care will be provided on a space available basis. There will be door prizes and gifts, so it is important that you make your reservation as soon as possible.

College placement testing is required to determine placement in courses.  Students who have already met the requirements for placement assessment will not be required to take the COMPASS - please contact Galveston College Counseling Center at (409)944-1220 for more information.  Prior to orientation, Galveston College will offer Compass Test Preparatory Workshops for the COMPASS test in room R-259 on Monday, July 17th from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 19th  from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday August 14th from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Wednesday, August 16th from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  The workshops will cover reading, writing, and math.  The COMPASS Preparatory Workshops are free (the cost of the COMPASS test is $29).
