Galveston College Celebrates Employees’ Service

The 2011 Galveston College Awards Banquet was held on Friday, April 29 in the Abe and Annie Seibel Wing. The following employees were recognized for five years of services: Tia Campbell, Dana Gazda, Diane Laine, Chandra Matthews, Nikki Montoya, Tim Setzer, Robert Vandewater, and Jonathan Walker and Board of Regent members Barbara Crews and Greg Roof. 10 Year recipients include Valencia Allen, Pamela Britton, Mari Macias, Eva Osorio and Wayne Way. Robert Taylor received an award for 30 years of service and Joe Conti was recognized for 35 years of service.  Retirees include Dr. Buddy Powell, Sharon Hellman, Santiago Rodriguez, Angelina Martinez and Joe Conti.

The following employees received the 2011 Exceptional Performance Award.

Passionate Painting

This class will explore the use of acrylics and oils through exciting, free-style applications of fast-paced techniques geared toward rendering bright, quick and meaningful impressions. This class is perfect for beginners and even for advanced painters who want to loosen up and paint! The class will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 28 through August 2, 2011. No textbook is required. No Senior Discounts. The cost is $110. Conversational Spanish I

This course is designed to develop conversational skills in Spanish and will emphasize the active, practical use of Spanish through an interactive and personalized learning experience. Based on gradual acquisition of useful vocabulary and material related to everyday life, students
will become familiar with the Spanish speaking world. Textbook required. This course will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 14 through August 4. The cost is $225. For more information contact Continuing Education at 409-944-1344.

Registration Continues for Summer/Fall

Galveston College Early Registration continues for the 2011 Summer I and Summer II sessions, and the 2011 Fall semester. Early registration hours are 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Summer Session I classes begin June 6, Summer II session classes begin July 11, and the Fall semester begins August 29. Senior Citizen Discount

All United States citizens who are residents of Galveston Community College District who have attained the age of 65 years (65 and older) are eligible to receive a 100% tuition discount for credit courses, and a 50% discount toward associated fees for credit courses (exceptions include individual music instruction, course fees, liability insurance, health fees, and testing fees). Tuition/fee adjustment requests for credit courses must be made at the time of registration.
