Galveston College Spring  Registration Starts January 10

General Registration for the 2011 Spring Semester will be held Jan. 10 to Jan. 14, 2011. General Registration hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. Classes begin on Jan. 18. This Spring Semester Galveston College is offering classes in the areas of Accounting, Arts, Biology, Business Administration, Chemistry, Computed Tomography, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Academy, Culinary Arts, Drama, Economics , Education, Emergency Medical Services, English, Environmental Science, Geography, Government, Health Information, History, Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management, Humanities, Heating and Air Conditioning, Industrial Systems, Mathematics, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Medical Office Administration, Music, Nuclear Medicine Nursing, Office Administration, Pharmacy Technology, Philosophy, Phlebotomy, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology, Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Sociology, Spanish, Speech, Surgical Technology and Vocational Nursing. New Vice President of Instruction Welcomed 

Galveston College faculty and staff have welcomed its new Vice President of Instruction, Dr. Debra Kuhl for the 2011 Spring Semester. Dr. Kuhl most recently served as the Dean of Instruction and Chief Academic Officer at Clarendon College, Clarendon, TX.  Prior to assuming her position at Clarendon College, she held positions at Cumberland College, Vineland, NJ where she was a division chair and at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, Hope, Arkansas where she was a member of the business faculty.  Dr. Kuhl earned an Associate of Science degree from Joliet Junior College, a BBA and a MBA from College of St. Francis, Joliet, IL, a BS in History from Texas A&M – Texarkana, and an Ed.D. in Community College Leadership from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville.

College Closed for Martin Luther King Holiday

Galveston College will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011.  College offices reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011.

New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is MANDATORY for all first time, full time entering students registering for credit classes. Students may choose from either Orientation session listed below:

Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.          

Orientation sessions provide students with information on the many services available at Galveston College. In addition, students are also able to register early for courses and take the Compass® placement examination free of charge at the conclusion of each session. All orientation sessions will be held in Room M-220 on the second floor of Moody Hall.
