Galveston College is expanding the Welding Technology program this during the 2011 Spring Semester by adding a second evening class at the new Charlie Thomas Family Vocational-Technical Training Center on Broadway in Galveston. A new evening Welding class will be offered from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for first-semester students. Students entering the second phase of the two year Associate’s degree curriculum will continue at the new Center in day classes. The Welding Technology program can accommodate 24 students and 24 welding booths. Students may seek Pell Grants, Universal Access awards or other forms of financial aid to offset the cost of tuition. Spring Semester Early Registration begins November 15, 2010 and Spring classes start January 18. The Galveston College Spring Semester Preview will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010 in the Moody Hall Lobby. The Recruitment Team and the Recruitment, Retention and Student Success Committee will be available to familiarize prospective and current students with programs and degrees, as well as encourage early registration. Early registration for the 2011 Spring Semester begins on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010. Early registration will be held that week from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays through Fridays. For more information call the Counseling Center at (409) 944-1220.
Chef Paul Mendoza and his Culinary Arts class invite you to attend the Fall Scholarship Luncheon on Friday, November 19. An Apple Butternut Squash soup will be served, followed by the main course of home-style meatloaf, rosemary macaroni & cheese and sautéed green beans. Pumpkin cheesecake will complete the meal. The lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Atrium of the Mary Moody Northen Building on the Galveston College Campus located at 4015 Avenue Q, Galveston, Texas. The price is $15.00 per person. Staff and students of the Galveston College Upward Bound program are hosting a Food Drive in support of the Salvation Army from Nov. 13 through Dec. 13. Collection boxes will be placed around campus including the Atrium, Moody Hall lobby, and outside the Upward Bound offices on the second floor of Regents Hall. Students, faculty, staff and visitors are encouraged to contribute.
