Galveston College President Dr. Myles Shelton, at podium, addresses a large audience at the reopening of the Charles Scott campus of the new Early College High School. Dr. Shelton made comments on Galveston College’s role to benefit high school students with college credit as Dr. Buddy Powell of Galveston College and new GISD Superintendent Larry Nichols looked on.
The 16th Annual Rudy T Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, Oct. 8 at the Galveston Country Club.
Event organizers encourage your participation as a sponsor of the tournament. Rudy Tomjanovich and his family and friends are amazed at the generosity of the Galveston community in helping provide opportunities to some carefully selected college students toward achieving their life goals. The event includes a great post-golf tournament party and dance for business and corporate sponsors, as well as an amazing group of celebrities and stars.

Galveston College is offering Conversational French. This beginning course is intended to introduce students to basic pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and practical conversational phrases and expressions, so that students can actively use French speaking and comprehension skills in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The culture of France will also be emphasized. A textbook is required. Tuition is $180 and the class meets from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Oct. 4. Galveston College is offering a course in Motorcycle Engine Repair. The course will cover overhaul procedures for four stroke motorcycle engines and transmissions. Emphasis will be on proper shop procedures for servicing the piston, cylinder, valve train, crankshaft assembly, and transmission during the course of an overhaul. A High School Diploma or GED is required. The tuition is $170. Classes are held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, beginning Nov. 15. Call 409-944-1344 for more information.
