Texas Comptroller Susan Combs held a Every Chance Fund - Jet Program event in Galveston highlighting Galveston College as a recipient of $118,396 in Job Building funds for HVAC and Refrigeration equipment and $43,860 in Career and Technical Scholarships. Galveston College General Registration opens today and runs August 23rd through August 28th with hours of registration Monday through Thursday 8:00am until 7:00pm, Friday 8:00am until 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am until 2:00pm. Late registration is August 30th through September 2nd from 8:00am until 7:00pm, September 3rd from 8:00am until 5:00pm and September 7th from 8:00am until 7:00pm.
The 2010 Fall Semester classes start August 30th. Classes are offered in subjects of Accounting, Art, Associate Degree Nursing, Biological Sciences, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computers Technology, Computerized Tomography, Criminal Justice and Culinary Arts. Galveston College is offering a Medication Aide course.This class will present instruction in the preparation and administration of designated medications by non-licensed nursing personnel employed in licensed health care agencies including the responsibilities associated with such administration. You will learn medical abbreviations, symbols, terminology and common equivalents (apothecary, metric, and household measurements). This program prepares you for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability services Medication Aide Licensing Exam.
Tuition is $500. The course fees include the Licensing Exam. Textbooks are required. Class will be held from 6:00 until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning August 24th and ending on December 16th.
