Texas Comptroller Susan Combs held a Every Chance Fund - Jet Program event in Galveston highlighting Galveston College as a recipient of $118,396 in Job Building funds for HVAC and Refrigeration equipment and $43,860 in Career and Technical Scholarships. Fall Semester Registration Continues Today
Galveston College General Registration opens today and runs August 23rd through August 28th with hours of registration Monday through Thursday 8:00am until 7:00pm, Friday 8:00am until 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am until 2:00pm. Late registration is August 30th through September 2nd from 8:00am until 7:00pm, September 3rd from 8:00am until 5:00pm and September 7th from 8:00am until 7:00pm.
The 2010 Fall Semester classes start August 30th. Classes are offered in subjects of Accounting, Art, Associate Degree Nursing, Biological Sciences, Business, Chemistry, Computer Science, Computers Technology, Computerized Tomography, Criminal Justice and Culinary Arts. Other courses are offered in Hospitality Management, Developmental Studies, Drama, Economics, Education, Emergency Medical Services, English, Environmental Science, Government, Health Information Technology, HVAC, History, Humanities, Industrial Systems Technology, Law Enforcement Academy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography/Breast Imaging, Mathematics, Medical Terminology, Medical Office, Multimedia and Information Resources Design, Music, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Office Administration, Pharmacy Technology, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology, Radiation Therapy, Radiography, Small Business Management/Entrepreneurship, Sociology, Spanish, Speech, Surgical Technology, Vocational Nursing and Welding Technology.

Galveston College is offering a Medication Aide course.This class will present instruction in the preparation and administration of designated medications by non-licensed nursing personnel employed in licensed health care agencies including the responsibilities associated with such administration. You will learn medical abbreviations, symbols, terminology and common equivalents (apothecary, metric, and household measurements). This program prepares you for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability services Medication Aide Licensing Exam.
- A criminal background check
- Students must show proof of High School Diploma/Transcript or GED upon registration.
- Student must also be employed in a Long-Term Care Facility as a Certified Nurse Aide upon registration as well as throughout the program.
Tuition is $500. The course fees include the Licensing Exam. Textbooks are required. Class will be held from 6:00 until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning August 24th and ending on December 16th.
