Galveston College Choir Hosts Christmas Concert
The Galveston College Choir, The Mainland Singers and The Mainland Chorale from College of the Mainland and the St. John’s United Methodist Chancel Bells Choir will join to present two concerts of Christmas Choral music on Monday, December 7. They will present a concert in the performing arts room (FA-207) of Galveston College at 7:30 p.m. All are invited to attend and there is no admission charge.
The concert will feature a Christmas Cantata For Us a Child is Born by J.S. Bach sung by the combined choirs under the direction of Dr. Larry Patton and accompanied by Ron Wyatt. Mike Gilbert, Baritone, Leo Hock, Tenor and Pat Bumpus, Mezzo-Soprano will be soloists. The Mainland Singers, St. John’s United Methodist Chancel Bells Choir, and The Mainland Chorale, conducted by Dr. James Heffel, will also present several choral works. The Galveston College Choir, conducted by Dr. Larry Patton, will conclude the musical evening.
The concert will be repeated on Tuesday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 517 18th Avenue North, in Texas City. Dr. James Heffel will conduct the Bach Cantata in this performance with Deb Lewis as accompanist and Mike Gilbert, Leo Hock and Pat Bumpus as soloists. This concert is also free of charge.
