Pictured at left is judge Christina Bergvall, Galveston College Pharmacy Technology Coordinator with Science Fair participant Kolbi Darden of Blocker Middle School.  Darden’s “Vortex” project took fifth place in the Life and Physical Science Junior Division.  Over 230 students competed in the 27th Annual Galveston County Science and Engineering Fair sponsored by UTMB, Texas A&M University-Galveston and Galveston College.

Galveston College Announces Culinary Luncheon

Galveston College is pleased to announce a Culinary Luncheon to be held Friday, April 3, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. in the Galveston College Atrium.  The luncheon will be hosted by Chef Paul Mendoza along with the Culinary and Hospitality students from Galveston College and Ball High School.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Galveston College Culinary Scholarship Program.  Cost is $15.00 per person and the menu will be fava, sweet pea and sugar snap salad, halibut with coconut-red curry sauce. Kids’ College Begins in June

Galveston College’s Kids’ College program begins classes on June 8th.  The cost is $50 per class and $85 per camp.  Classes include Fun Art, Fashion Modeling, Chemistry for Kids, Mixture Galore, Grossology, Kids in the Kitchen, Snack Shack, PowerPoint, computer Fun, Math Games, Math Mania, Study Smart, Hip Hop Dance, Exercise made Fun, Kickboxing, Beginning Piano, “Can You Hear Me Now”, Creative Writing, Si Habla Espanol I, Ready to Read Everything, Word Rap and Reading .  Camps include Art, Theater, Soccer, Basketball, Bringing Reading to Life I and II and Weird Science.  For additional information please call the Continuing Education department at (409)944-1344.

Galveston College to Sponsor Spring Festival

Galveston College plans to sponsor a Spring Festival on April 16, 2009.  The festival will be held on Beacon Square at 39th and Avenue Q on the Galveston College campus.  Festival hours are from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  The festival will feature Cajun food, fun and Zydeco music by LT and the Zydeco Mob.  The general public is invited.
