College Registration Starts Tomorrow
Galveston College will begin open registration for the 2009 spring semester on Tuesday, January 6th from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Open registration continues during those same hours through Thursday. Friday, January 9th registration will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday registration on January 10th will run from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Spring semester classes start January 12, 2009
Dual Credit Tuition Assistance Available this Spring
High School juniors and seniors in Galveston may qualify for the Dual Credit Tuition Assistance program provided by the Galveston College Foundation. Students must receive approval from their high school counselor to qualify. The program covers the cost of tuition and fees for one course per semester. College to host Artistic Legacies: Folk Blues and Art Pottery
Galveston College will host musical performances and pottery workshops in a presentation of Artistic Legacies: Folk Blues and Art Pottery. The workshops and performances will be held in the Galveston College Fine Arts Gallery on the third floor of the Fine Arts Building. A reception will be held for artists Andy Iventosch, Carl Block and Max Butler on February 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the gallery. Live musical performances will follow at 7:00 p.m. Performances will feature Max Butler and the Saw Sages as well as Carl Block and the Baithouse Stompers. Earlier in the day, Associate Professor of Fine Arts Beth Thomas will feature pottery throwing and decorating workshops from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again February 6th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Leadership Galveston 2009
Galveston College’s Leadership Institute has set the dates for its Leadership Galveston Spring 2009 classes, which it offers in partnership with the Galveston Chamber of Commerce. The Leadership Galveston dates for spring 2009 are January 30th, February 13th, February 27th, March 13th, March 27th and April 17th. The cost of the course is $350 per registrant.
