The Galveston College Department of Music will present music representing the fall and winter months. The concert will include the Galveston College Choir, four solo vocal pieces and a solo piano piece performed by Ronald Wyatt. The concert will include autumn pieces “The Winds of Autumn” by David Lantz III, a vocal jazz piece “Autumn Leaves” by Joseph Kosma and the Renaissance piece “Alma Redemptoris Mater” by Giovanni Palestrina. Seasonal pieces will include “Peaceful was the Night” by Eugene Butler and “Y’susum Midbar” by D. Zahavi. Other holiday selection include the hilarious piece “Christmas Goes Classical” arranged by David Maddux and a special arrangement of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Ken Darby. The evening will conclude with a “Christmas Carol Audience Sing Along”.

Online registration via Campus Online at www.gc.edu will be available during the Winter Break from December 20th through January 5th. Open registration will be held beginning Tuesday, January 6th through January 8th from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 9th registration will be held from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10th registration will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Classes start Monday, January 12, 2009.
All students who have registered during early registration or through campus Online should remember that payment for tuition and fees is due by 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 18, 2008.
Galveston College will close to the public for the holidays at 5:00 p.m. on December 19, 2008. The College will reopen to the public on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 and resume open registration for students.
This course is designed to develop conversational skills in Spanish and will emphasize the active, practical use of Spanish through an interactive and personalized learning experience. Based on gradual acquisition of useful vocabulary and material related to everyday life, students will become familiar with the Spanish speaking world. The class is being offered from January 20th through March 12th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.. The cost of the course is $180 and a textbook is required. For more information call (409) 944-1344.
Galveston College’s Leadership Institute has set the dates for its Leadership Galveston Spring 2009 classes, which it offers in partnership with the Galveston Chamber of Commerce. The Leadership Galveston dates for spring 2009 are January 30th, February 13th, February 27th, March 13th, March 27th and April 17th. The cost of the course is $350 per registrant.
