College Spring Festival Set for April 3rd
Galveston College plans to sponsor a Spring Festival on April 3, 2008. The festival will be held on Beacon Square at 39th and Avenue Q on the Galveston College campus. Festival hours are from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and many of the displays and performances will feature cultural enhancements for students and visitors. The general public is invited to attend.
Galveston College in partnership with the Worksource and the rotary Club of Galveston will be hosting a career fair scheduled for Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Hermes Fitness Center. This is the perfect opportunity to meet potential employers, fill out applications and provide them with resumes. Some of the organizations attending are City of Galveston HR Department, Department of Assistive/Rehabilitative Services, Devereux Texas Treatment Network, Edgewater Retirement Community, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Eye Masters, Houston Police Department Recruiting Unit, Kelly Services, Manthra Health Care Staffing, Rainforest Café, Schlitterbahn Waterpark-Galveston Island, Sherwin-Williams Coastal District Office, Sodexho, Target, Texas Army National Guard, Texas Gas Service, Texas Orthopedic Hospital, The San Luis Resort, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Transitional Learning Center, U.S. Marines Recruiting Office, U.S. Navy

Galveston College in partnership with the Galveston Bar Association is continuing its Critical Legal Updates for Individuals and Businesses seminar series on Wednesday, March 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the College’s Cyber Café. The March 12th seminar deals with landlord and tenant relationships. The Cyber Café is located in the Learning Resources Center. There is no charge for the seminar to students or members of the general public but attendees are encouraged to register. Galveston College will be closed Friday, March 14, 2008 through March 23, 2008 for the Spring Break holidays. College offices will reopen on Monday, March 24 at 8:00 a.m.
Galveston College Hosts Author
Galveston College will host Galveston County Reads on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall, Room Fine Arts 207. The session features the author of “A Lesson Before Dying”, Ernest J. Gaines through an interactive webcast. The session is being facilitated by University of Houston-Clear Lake Professor John Gorman, and is sponsored by the Student Government Association and the African American Club of Galveston College.
