Early Registration Begins Today

Galveston College will offer Early Registration November 26th through 30th and December 3rd through 7th for the spring 2008 semester.  Classes for the Spring 2008 semester start Monday, January 14, 2008.

Drama Classes

Galveston College is reviving its drama classes during the 2008 Spring Semester.  Drama 1310 Introduction to Theatre will be offered Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. until 8:15 p.m.  Drama 1351 Acting I will be offered Thursdays from 7:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.  For more information call 409-944-1317.

Basic Internet

Introduction to the Internet including E-mail, customizing your home page, and learn how to perform basic research to address your needs.  No textbook required. This 12 hour class cost $60 and will be held March 25th through April 10th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Cardio Hip Hop

If you are looking for a good cardio workout that works the entire body, this is it!  Hip Hop is street style dancing from New York – free, funky, soulful expression of movement.  It’s fun urban dancing that gets your heart pumping!  Make sure to wear tennis shoes.  No textbook required.  Class cost $65 and will be on Tuesday evenings starting January 22nd and run thorough April 29th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Nurse Assistant

Preparation for entry level nursing assistants to achieve a level of knowledge, skill, and abilities essential to provide basic care to residents of long-term care facilities.  Topics include resident’s rights, communication, safety, observation, reporting and assisting residents in maintaining basic comfort and safety.  This class places emphasis on effective interaction with members of the health care team.  Students are required to attend a CPR Level C (health care provider) class to be scheduled by the instructor.  Students must enroll concurrently in Nurse Aide Clinical (NURA 1060) to complete the Certified Nursing Assistant Program  The course fee includes certification test, CPR/First Aid and insurance.  Textbook and uniform (burgundy scrubs) are required.  This program prepares you for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services Nurse Aide Certification Exam.  This 86 hour course cost $350.  Classes are offered Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. January 22nd through February 8th. 
Another class will be offered March 3rd through April 9th, Monday through Friday from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
The final class for this semester will be March 24th through April 9th, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
