Galveston College recently introduced the 2007 Law Enforcement Academy graduates. The Galveston College Fine Arts Gallery is currently featuring the mixed media painting of artist Phyllis Evans in a show titles “The Subjective Hand”. The show opened in the gallery on September 12th and runs through November 15, 2007.
A special artist reception is planned in the Art Gallery for November 8, 2007 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The artist will give a slide presentation of her work that evening beginning at 7:00 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. For more information contact Beth Thomas at 944-1309
This course is designed to develop conversational skills in Spanish and will emphasize the active, practical use of Spanish through an interactive and personalized learning experience. Based on gradual acquisition of useful vocabulary and material related to everyday life, students will become familiar with the Spanish speaking world. For more information call (409)944-1344.
Each class session will focus on specific techniques to help participants develop both technical skills and an understanding of the medium. The aim of the class is to explore the unique qualities of this medium: transparency, speed and spontaneity. This class is for the beginner and the more experienced student. Galveston College’s Chef Paul Mendoza is excited to announce that reservations are now being taken for the upcoming Fall Culinary Luncheon. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Culinary Scholarship Program. The Luncheon will be held on Friday, September 28 at 11:30 am in the Galveston College Atrium.
The luncheon will be hosted by Chef Paul Mendoza and the Culinary and Hospitality students and will feature a delectable International menu of: Mezze platter with selection of three Middle East appetizers, Spanish Chicken with Catalan Picada, rice salad, and vegetable, and a Swedish Mazarintarta (Almond Raspberry Tart).

Galveston College TRIO – Upward Bound is recruiting 9th and 10th grade students from Ball High School. The program goals are to generate skills and the motivation necessary to enter and earn a Bachelors Degree from College.
To participate in the TRIO – Upward Bound Program students must be potential first generation college students (parents have not obtained a four year degree from college), must meet the federal income guidelines, demonstrate a need and desire for academic support and demonstrate some potential for a postsecondary degree.
