The Galveston College Radiography Club will host a blood drive with the UTMB Blood Bank on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.in the Abe and Annie Seibel Wing of the Student Center. If you are a Certified Nurse Aide, up your career potential and become a Certified Medication Aide. This course provides instruction in the preparation and administration of designated medications by non-licensed nursing personnel employed in licensed health care agencies, including the responsibilities associated with such administration. You will learn medical abbreviation, symbols, terminology and common equivalencies (apothecary, metric, and household measurements). To become a CMA, you have to currently be a Certified Nurse Aide, employed for at least the last 90 days, and remain employed at the same facility for the next few months. This program prepares you for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services Medication Aide Licensing Exam; and the fee for that exam is included in the course tuition. Textbook is required. Classes will be held Mondays through Thursdays, starting March 24, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., $699. For more details for registration are available by calling 409-944-1344.
If conversational Spanish is your goal, we have the solution! Our beginner class will boost your confidence, and have you ready to proceed with more advanced courses. If you are going on a trip, or just want to feel more confident in basic Spanish communication, this is the class for you! Textbook provided as part of course cost. This six week class meets Mondays, March 17 to April 21, 6-8 pm, $79.
In compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Galveston College is presenting a series of water industry courses for municipality employees who want to prepare for certificate in various areas of water quality. The 20 hour, one week training series courses include: Basic Water, Wastewater Treatment, Water Utilities Calculations, Basic Wastewater, and Wastewater Collection. The Water Utilities Calculations training is being held at the Charlie Thomas Applied Technology Center on Monday, February 24 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Upon successful completion of Water Utilities Calculations training, participants will be able to understand and apply the essential techniques for calculations needed in water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants and construction and maintenance. Additionally, this training will prepare participants for the elective you could use to obtain your C level Water or Wastewater operations license.
