Galveston College Ceramics Alumna Lotus Bermudez, left, recently presented an artist workshop to GC ceramics students Bryan Buckalew, Ralph Nusebaum, Leigh Frazier, Jassiel Martinez, and Pat Patterson. Her show "A FULL PLATE: Ceramic Art of Lotus Bermudez" will be on display until March 14 in the third floor Art Gallery of the Fine Arts Building at Galveston College's Main Campus at 4015 Avenue Q.
General Registration begins January 11 and continues January 13 through January 15. General Registration hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 and 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 13 through Wednesday, January 15. Late Registration will be held January 16, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and January 17, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Spring semester classes begin January 21, 2014. Galveston College, in partnership with the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, has set dates for the new Leadership Galveston course for the spring 2014 semester. Sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Fridays, January 24, February 7, February 21, March 7, March 21, April 4 and April 25.
Acceptance into the program is based upon potential leadership skills, involvement in community affairs and concern for the future of Galveston. Prospective students must complete the College’s Leadership Galveston application and the Employer’s Certification forms found online at www.gc.edu, under the Schedule of Classes and the Public Affairs subsections. If you have previously taken the first level of Diesel Engine Testing and Repair at Galveston College, or if you have been employed working on diesel engines, you can now take the second level this spring. Diesel Engine Testing and Repair II will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5-8 p.m. starting January 13 for 16 weeks. Course cost is $599 and helps prepare you for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification exam. Our offices are closed until January 6; call 409-944-1344 then to sign up for the class.
