Galveston College will close at 5:00 p.m. on December 18, 2013 and reopen on January 6 at 8:00 a.m. Online Registration will be available during the time Galveston College is closed for the Holidays.
Spring Semester Registration
Early registration for the 2014 Spring Semester continues January 6 through January 9. Student Services office hours during Early Registration are from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
General Registration begins January 11 and continues January 13 through January 15. General Registration hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 and 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 13 through Wednesday, January 15.
Late Registration will be held January 16, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and January 17, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Spring semester classes begin January 21, 2014. The Spring Credit Class Schedule is now available online and in printed versions throughout the campus. For more information, call 409-944-1220.

Leadership Galveston 2014
Galveston College, in partnership with the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, has set dates for the new Leadership Galveston course for the spring 2014 semester. Sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Fridays, January 24, February 7, February 21, March 7, March 21, April 4 and April 25.
Acceptance into the program is based upon potential leadership skills, involvement in community affairs and concern for the future of Galveston. Prospective students must complete the College’s Leadership Galveston application and the Employer’s Certification forms found online at www.gc.edu, under the Schedule of Classes and the Public Affairs subsections. Certified Nurse Aide Applications for 2014 Now Available
The Certified Nurse Aide course prepares for entry level nursing assistants to achieve a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to provide basic care to residents of long-term care facilities. The course fee of $699 includes Healthcare Providers CPR. Current immunizations and background check are required. State certification exam fee of $95, textbook, scrubs, other equipment are paid by student separately. High School Diploma or GED is required. Courses start February 17, 2014; application and required documentation due before February 3. Wastewater Treatment Training
Learn the practical aspects of operating and maintaining wastewater treatment plants, emphasizing the use of safe practices and procedures. In addition to the information about state requirements, participants will learn about the composition and characteristics of wastewater, secondary treatment processes, disinfection of wastewater, and laboratory controls. Upon successful completion of Wastewater Treatment training, participants will be able to understand and apply techniques that will allow for the proper operation and maintenance of water and wastewater systems. Additionally, this training will prepare participants for the Class C state certification examination. Prerequisite for this course would be prior training in Basic Wastewater Operations. Individuals recommended for this training would be wastewater industry professionals; water utilities field operations superintendents, field coordinators, wastewater treatment operators, and field utility specialists. The course will be held Monday through Thursday evenings, January 13 - 16, 2014, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Twenty hours of training $200.00 per person (includes materials). Concurrent GED and Medical Coding Certification
Don’t have a GED? Interested in a Medical Coding career? Galveston College, Career & Workforce Training, and Accelerate Texas may have the answer with a program to jumpstart your career plan! What’s required? You must be 18 years old, seeking a GED, have desire for a career in Medical Coding, and able to work in Texas. Classes take place concurrently through the semester in the evenings – 8 weeks for Medical Terminology, 8 weeks for Medical Coding, and along the way, prepare for taking your GED test. By next May, in less than five months, you could be ready to pass the GED test and a Medical Coding certification. Applications are available now and interviews are required by appointment. Diesel Engine Testing and Repair
If you have previously taken the first level of Diesel Engine Testing and Repair at Galveston College, or if you have been employed working on diesel engines, you can now take the second level this spring. Diesel Engine Testing and Repair II will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. starting January 13 for 16 weeks. Course cost is $599 and helps prepare you for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification exam. Galveston College offices are closed until January 6 please call 409-944-1344 then to sign up for the class. Senior Fitness and Exercise
Galveston College is offering a Senior Fitness and Exercise program. If you are over 65 and enjoy a regular exercise routine, this is the class for you! Instruction on use of equipment will be given by the instructor on the first day of class. Senior discounts are available. This 15 week course will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. starting January 22 and ending May 12. The cost is $175. Galveston College is offering a Weight Training program. Learn how to do safe and effective strength training exercises for daily living and how you can increase your bone density with various resistance exercises. Senior discount is available. The cost is $175. This class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. – 1:50 p.m. starting January 22 and ends May 14.
