Galveston College Cuts Ribbon on Center Tuesday

Galveston College will host Charlie Thomas and his family along with City dignitaries and citizens during the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the Charlie Thomas Family Applied Technology Center on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.

In the spring of 2009 Galveston College President Dr. W. Myles Shelton and members of the Board of Regents participated with the Galveston Recovery Committee after the devastation of Hurricane Ike. They heard the other participants express a desire to strengthen our citizens and graduates with career training in vocations that would enhance the local workforce. The Galveston College Regents and President promised to take action.

The Grand Opening of the Galveston College Charlie Thomas Family Applied Technology Center is planned for Tuesday September 17, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the 7626 Broadway Boulevard location. Local citizens are invited to attend the ribbon cutting by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce and a short presentation followed by an open house that will feature students in programs of Welding, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Electrical and Electronics Technology, Cosmetology, Medical Office Administration and others.

The grand opening ceremony will include remarks and a proclamation from Mayor Lewis Rosen. Galveston Chamber of Commerce Honor Guard members will conduct a ribbon cutting following remarks by hosts and special guests. Faculty and staff of Galveston College programs will be on hand to answer questions and guide guests through the facility.
