Associate Degree Nursing Program

The Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing is a 72-credit-hour curriculum designed to prepare a student to become a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas. Upon completion of the two year program, the Associate Degree Nursing graduate is eligible to take the NLCEX-RN licensure examination.

Prospective students must meet specific admission requirements for admittance to the ADN program. In addition to meeting prerequisites, students must pass the nurse entrance test, obtain a clear background check or approved Declaratory Order from the Texas Board of Nursing, and provide evidence of first Hepatitis B vaccination. 

The Associate Degree Nursing program will be accepting applications from September 15, 2013 through January 15, 2014 for classes starting August 2014.

Vocational Nursing Program

The Vocational Nursing program is a 54-credit hour curriculum leading to a certificate in Vocational Nursing in the State of Texas. The graduate is eligible to take the NCLEX-PN licensure examination. The program is designed to be completed within one calendar year. The Vocational Nursing program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Prospective students must meet specific admission requirements to be accepted into the Vocational Nursing program. In addition to meeting prerequisites, students must pass the nurse entrance test, obtain a clear background check or approved Declaratory Order from the Texas Board of Nursing, and provide evidence of first Hepatitis B vaccination.

The Vocational Nursing program will be accepting applications beginning September 15, 2013 through January 15, 2014 for admission for classes starting June 2014. LVN/ EMT-P to Transition ADN Program

Licensed Vocational Nurses/Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic who meet the College and Nursing program admissions criteria are eligible to enter the second year of the nursing program via the LVN/EMT-P Transition program. Each transition class enters in the summer and completes the program of study in one year. Students must be certified in Basic Life Support, Health Care Provider (CPR) at program entry and maintain certification throughout their course of study. The admissions criteria include the completion of all prerequisite and general education courses required in the first year of the Associate Degree Nursing curriculum.

Transition (EMT/P to ADN and VN to ADN) programs will be accepting applications beginning September 15, 2013 through January 15, 2014 for admission for classes starting June 2014.
