Galveston College Bookstore clerk Lola Southern assists student Leycci Torres in the newly remodeled GC Bookstore. The Galveston College Bookstore recently opened its newly remodeled store on the main campus at 4015 Avenue Q on Galveston Island.
In the spring of 2009 Galveston College President Dr. W. Myles Shelton and members of the Board of Regents participated with the Galveston Recovery Committee after the devastation of Hurricane Ike. They heard the other participants express a desire to strengthen our citizens and graduates with career training in vocations that would enhance the local workforce. The Galveston College Regents and President promised to take action.
The Grand Opening of the Galveston College Charlie Thomas Family Applied Technology Center is planned for Tuesday September 17, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at the 7626 Broadway Boulevard location. Local citizens are invited to attend the ribbon cutting by the Galveston Chamber of Commerce and a short presentation followed by an open house that will feature students in programs of Welding, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Electrical and Electronics Technology, Cosmetology, Medical Office Administration and others.
Early registration for the 2013 fall semester continues. August 12 through August 15, early registration hours will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. The College will be closed on Friday, August 16.
General Registration will be held August 19 through August 22 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Late registration will be held Friday, August 23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first day of class for the 2013 Fall Semester is August 26.

Galveston College, in partnership with the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, has set dates for the new Leadership Galveston course for the fall 2013 semester. Sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Fridays September 13, September 27, October 11, October 25, November 8, November 22 and December 6. The cost is $500 per registrant. Acceptance to the program is based upon potential leadership skills, involvement in community affairs and concern for the future of Galveston. Prospective students must complete the College’s Leadership Galveston application and the Employer’s Certification forms found online at www.gc.edu under the Schedule of classes subsection.
