Galveston College Second Summer Session Starts July 15
The Galveston College second summer session begins July 15 and the fall semester begins August 26. Students may go online at www.gc.edu to view the summer/fall 2013 schedule and the 2013 summer Continuing Education and Professional Development Schedule. Galveston College Begins Alumni Association
An Alumni organization steering committee is being launched by the Galveston College Office of Development and Galveston College Foundation. Among the activities that the steering committee will perform is early support planning for the 50th anniversary of Galveston College scheduled for 2016-2017. The Foundation Office needs help with confirmation of current mailing addresses, phone and e-mail contact information for former students and alumni. New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation is MANDATORY for all first time, full-time entering students registering for credit classes. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students may choose from one of the orientation session listed below:
• Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.
• Monday, July 15, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 3:00 p.m.
Orientation sessions provide students with information on the many services available at Galveston College. In addition, students are also able to register early for courses and take the Compass® placement examination (valid picture I.D. REQUIRED) free of charge at the conclusion of each session.

The REAL CSI – July 11 – August 1 (Thursdays)
Do you love the CSI shows on television? This is an exciting, hands-on opportunity for participants to learn about the criminal justice system in general and real crime scene analysis in particular. During this four evening course, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Gulf Coast Forensics, is presenting a Continuing Education non-credit training class of Crime Scene Investigation. You’ll learn about the tools and techniques used in securing crime scenes, collecting and analyzing evidence, fingerprinting, crime scene mapping and photography, and even several case presentations. Course is taught by a Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst and includes cost of various crime scene supplies and tools used in the class. Ages 17+, Senior discount available. The cost is $129. The class will be held on Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. July 11 through August 1. Call 409-944-1344 for more information.
