Summer Session One Registration Continues

Galveston College’s summer session one registration continues with classes beginning, Monday, June 10, 2013. General registration is Monday, June 3 through Thursday, June 6 from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Late registration will be held on the first day of class on June 10 only. During General Registration payment for classes must be made the same day the student registers. The summer session one classes are five weeks long from Monday, June 10 through Thursday, July 11. Courses include the areas of Accounting, Arts, Biology, Chemistry, Developmental Education, Economics, English, Government, Health Information, History, Humanities, Mathematics, Music, Nursing, Philosophy, Physical Education, Physics, Sociology, Spanish Speech and Vocational Nursing.

Continuing Education Schedule Now Available

The Galveston College Continuing Education and Professional Development Summer 2013 Schedule is now available on campus and online for students use. The schedule offers a variety of non-credit courses for leisure learning, children’s programs and professional development classes. Cosmetology Degree Begins Fall 2013

The Board of Regents of the Galveston Community College District approved an Associate of Applied Science degree in Cosmetology and a Certificate of Completion in Cosmetology program. The degree and certificate programs will begin at the Charlie Thomas Family Applied Technology Center at 7626 Broadway during the 2013 fall semester.

Cosmetology is the art and science of beautifying hair skin and nails. The main goal of the Cosmetology program is to prepare students to pass the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Examination. The program prepares students to pass both the Texas written and practical examinations. Students receive this preparation through classes and also by actual salon experience. The former automobile new car showroom at 7626 Broadway is currently being transformed into a cosmetology salon.

The Cosmetology Certificate program offers a total of 42 Semester Credit hours. The Associate in Applied Science Degree offers a total of 60-61 Semester Credit hours. For more information call Erica Campbell at 409-944-1480.

Leadership Galveston 2013

Galveston College, in partnership with the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, has set dates for the new Leadership Galveston course  for the fall 2013 semester. Sessions will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Fridays September 13, September 27, October 11, October 25, November 8, November 22 and December 6. The cost is $500 per registrant. Acceptance to the program is based upon potential leadership skills, involvement in community affairs and concern for the future of Galveston. Prospective students must complete the College’s Leadership Galveston application and the Employer’s Certification forms found online at under the Schedule of classes subsection.
