Galveston College recently held its Employee Awards Banquet recognizing employees for years of service and awards for exceptional service as it concludes its 46th year of service to Galveston residents.
Beginning May 13 early registration for summer sessions and the fall semester will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Mini semester classes begin May 13. Summer session I classes begin June 10, summer session II classes start July 15 and fall semester classes start August 26. Summer Session I general Registration is June 3 through 6. This 4-hour course is designed for those who provide healthcare to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in and out of hospital settings. These healthcare providers may include (but are not limited to) physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician assistants, residents or fellows, medical or nursing assistants or students in training, aides, and other allied health personnel. All participants who complete the course and pass the written exam will receive a BLS for Healthcare Providers Course completion card (credential), which is good for two years. This class will be held Wednesday, June 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Your instructor, professional artist Dan Houston, helps you learn the basics of design and create bright, quick, and meaningful impressions of your own through music. This class is perfect for beginners and even for advanced painters who want to loosen up and paint! *Be sure to ask for a supply list when registering. Senior discount available Cost: $90. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 11 through July 11 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Galveston College, in partnership with the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, has set dates for the new Leadership Galveston course for the fall 2013 semester. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Fridays September 13, September 27, October 11, October 25, November 8, November 22 and December 6. The cost is $500 per registrant. Acceptance into the program is based upon potential leadership skills, involvement in community affairs and concern for the future of Galveston. As civic, business and government leaders tackle current issues, a new generation of leadership is training to overcome the obstacles that will arise in the coming years. Leadership Galveston is a training ground, providing participants with the necessary skills to meet those challenges.
