The Galveston College Whitecaps Baseball team held their Second Annual Reunion recently at the Moody Gardens Hotel and Golf Course. Galveston College’s Nurse Assistant for Health Care Program has three $500 scholarships available for interested students. These scholarships are available by contacting the Continuing Education Department at (409) 944-1344 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The program starts on February 18, 2013 and ends April 4, 2013. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on the Galveston College Main Campus at 4015 Avenue Q in Galveston.
Full tuition for the Nurse Assistant Program is $675.00 plus textbooks and scrubs. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to take advantage of the Galveston College Foundation Certified Nursing Assistant Scholarships.
Galveston College, in partnership with the Galveston Chamber of Commerce, has set dates for the new Leadership Galveston course for the Spring 2013 semester. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Fridays, March 8, March 22, April 5, April 19, May 3, May 17 and May 31. The cost is $500 per registrant. Acceptance to the program is based upon potential leadership skills, involvement in community affairs and concern for the future of Galveston. As civic, business and government leaders tackle current issues, a new generation of leadership is training to overcome the obstacles that will arise in the coming years. Leadership Galveston is a training ground, providing participants with the necessary skills to meet those challenges.
Prospective students must complete the College’s Leadership Galveston application and the Employer’s Certification forms found online at www.gc.edu, under the Schedule of Classes subsection. Registration for the Spring Second Start term is now in progress. Registration hours are from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday and 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Late Registration will be held on Monday, February 25 from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Spring Second Start classes begin Monday, February 25, 2013 and will end Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Courses offered include Introduction toWriting Skills, Composition I, Composition II, World Literature I, Mexican American Literature, Environmental Science II, United States History I, United States History I, General Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, and Public Speaking. Gone are the days when cameras were cameras and a phone was a phone. Cell phones are everywhere and with technology advanced enough to equip most with decent cameras, people are now taking photographs everywhere they go. This class will provide tips, insights, and new ideas to help you get the most from your camera phones. The cost is $30. The class will meet from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25 and Wednesday, March 27 . For more information, contact Continuing Education at 409-944-1344.
