Galveston College 2013 spring semester begins today. Late Registration for Spring credit classes will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and Tuesday. Registration for Continuing Education classes takes place at different times throughout the semester. Students registering for credit classes during late registration must pay at the time of registration to avoid being dropped from classes. The Spring Credit Class Schedule and the Continuing Education Guide is now available online and in printed versions throughout the campus. For more information, call 409-944-1220.
This beginning Spanish series is designed to develop skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing to the point where a student can communicate on a basic level with a sympathetic native speaker. Students will acquire basic vocabulary and structures of Spanish and develop an understanding of its cultural context. Note: this level is not recommended for those with a native Spanish speaking background. Textbook required. The cost is $175. In part two of conversational Spanish, the instructor will give you the advanced level of language skills to improve your personal life and career. The cost is $175. Galveston College offers a Digital Photography course that is designed to expand on the technical and creative concepts acquired in beginning digital photography. Topics of instruction include: advanced digital camera functions, exposure control, and introduction to studio lighting, computer manipulation of images, digital archiving, digital output options and digital print finishing. The cost is $60 The Digital Photography II class will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 19 through April 4.
