Galveston College Whitecaps Softball sophomores Stacey Luciani, Outfielder; Alexis Dunn, Short Stop; and Madison Cole, Catcher/First Base were selected to the NJCAA Region XIV All Star Tournament Team. Head Softball Coach Ken Delcambre and Assistant Coach Nikki Levering will accompany these lady All Stars to the 2012 TJCSCA All State Weekend event to be held in Abilene, TX on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21-22.
Register Today For Fall Second Start Classes Beginning Oct. 1st
Registration for the Fall Second Start term is now in progress. Registration hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Late Registration will be held on Monday, October 1 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Fall Second Start classes begin Monday, October 1 and end Wednesday, December 13. Courses offered include Business Computer Applications, Introductory Algebra, Reading Improvement, College Reading, Basic Writing Skills, Composition I, World Literature I, Environmental Science I, United States History I, Introduction to Philosophy, General Psychology, Public Speaking. The Industrial Maintenance Program, which provides training to inspect, service and maintain machinery on which homeowners and businesses rely, also begins on October 1st. The program includes training in heating and cooling systems, boilers, electrical systems, and air flow distribution systems. Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Galveston College Vocational-Technical Training Center. Microsoft Office 2010 Suite® Course Begins Sept. 25th
This course is an introduction to integration of word processing, database and spreadsheets including: formatting, file functions, printing, screen formats, data manipulation, record selection, indexing, sorting, moving and copying. Microsoft Excel - Introduction® Course Offered on Sept. 28th
Learn the essentials of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to create and save workbooks, format text and numbers, select ranges and move or copy data. Learn how to use formulas and basic functions, explore printing options for worksheets, and how to insert pictures, as well as save worksheets as PDF files. Formatting rows and columns will also be covered. Handouts will be provided. No textbook required. The cost is $99. Class will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, September 28. Microsoft Outlook® Course Begins Oct. 26th
This course is an introduction to e-mail and calendaring software as a desktop information management tool. Learn the basics of using Microsoft Outlook. Use Outlook email features to send, receive, reply and forward email messages. Find out how to format, track messages and create auto-signatures. Learn to attach files to messages and open and save attached files. Discover how to use the calendar feature, manage contacts,

Introduction to Computers Course Begins Oct. 30th
Introduction to Computers provides an overview of personal computer systems. The class includes introduction to computer hardware, software, and the everyday use of computers. No textbook required. Learn the essentials of Microsoft Word and word processing. Create, navigate and save documents, apply character and paragraph formatting, insert symbols and create headers and footers.
