The local Alpha Delta Kappa organization established the GladniO Parker Memorial Scholarship at Galveston College and regularly contributes to the scholarship fund.
Galveston College Continuing Education is offering two Nurse Aide for Health Care Fast Track courses. The course facilitates entry-level nursing assistants in achieving a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities essential in providing basic care to residents of long-term care facilities. High School Diploma or GED is required.
Clinical Site: Manor Care Health Services, 750 Texas Avenue, Webster, TX 77598. Students MUST wear burgundy scrubs to clinical. Clinical may be held during the day and/or weekends.
Prospective student will have an opportunity to choose from two Nurse Aide for Health Care Fast Track courses. The first course will be held October 1 through October 16. The second class will be held November 26 through December 11. Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The cost of the course is $575, plus a required textbook and scrubs. The State certification exam fee must be paid separately.
Financial Aid is available through the Nursing Education and Placement Program (NEPP) at the University of Texas Medical Branch. For more information about funding through NEPP call 409-747-6700.

Registration for the Fall Second Start term is now in progress. Registration hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Late Registration will be held on Monday, October 1 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Fall Second Start classes begin Monday, October 1 and end Wednesday, December 13. Courses offered include Business Computer Applications, Introductory Algebra, Reading Improvement, College Reading, Basic Writing Skills, Composition I, World Literature I, Environmental Science I, United States History I, Introduction to Philosophy, General Psychology, Public Speaking. The Industrial Maintenance Program, which provides training to inspect, service and maintain machinery on which homeowners and businesses rely, also begins on October 1st. The program includes training in heating and cooling systems, boilers, electrical systems, and air flow distribution systems. Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Galveston College Vocational-Technical Training Center.
