Early registration for the 2012 fall semester continues. Early Registration is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, through August 10. From August 13 through August 14, early registration hours will be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. The College will be closed for General Assembly on Friday, August 17.
General Registration begins on August 20 and continues through August 25, as follows: from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday; and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 25. The first day of class for the 2012 Fall Semester is August 27. For more information call 409-944-1230.
Galveston College will begin offering a new Engineering Program this 2012 Fall semester. The program will allow students to complete the first two years of their Engineering education at Galveston College by earning an Associate of Science Degree with an emphasis in Engineering. Afterward, students may transfer to a four year institution, to earn a Bachelors of Science degree. The program will provide students more educational and career opportunities within the fields of Engineering, Science, and Technology. Graduates with Engineering degrees are historically in demand and highly paid, since United States employers work diligently to remain technologically competitive in a global market.
This 2012 Fall semester, Galveston College will inaugurate the Engineering Program with course offerings in the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering. Over the next several years, the Engineering Program will add courses in Civil and Electrical Engineering. The expected start dates for each program are:
• Mechanical Engineering (Fall 2012)
• Industrial Engineering (Fall 2012)
• Civil Engineering (Fall 2013)
• Electrical Engineering (Fall 2013)

The Galveston College Continuing Education and Professional Development Center is planning a meeting of the Galveston Welders Networking Group on August 14, 2012, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the Seibel Wing. Come learn about: welding education opportunities, potential job opportunities, employers who are hiring welders, future of welding in Galveston County, and the importance of networking with welders.
