Galveston College Upward Bound Students Make Choices

Galveston College TRiO-Upward Bound Class of 2012 graduated from Ball High School on May 31, 2012. Most participants have been accepted to colleges and universities of their choice, and most have been awarded scholarships as well. The TRiO - Upward Bound program is a federally funded college program, whose goal is to provide certain categories of high school students better opportunities for attending college. The categories of greatest concern are those with low income, and those with parents who did not attend college. Galveston College was recently awarded funding to continue serving TRiO-Upward Bound participants for an additional five years.

New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is MANDATORY for all first time, fulltime entering students registering for credit classes. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend. Students may choose from an orientation session listed below:

Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.
Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.
Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
Monday, August 20, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.
Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.

Orientation sessions provide student with information on the many services available at Galveston College. In addition, students are also able to register early for courses and take the Compass® placement examination (valid picture I.D. REQUIRED) free of charge at the conclusion of each session.

REMINDER: All first time students must present proof of the Bacterial Meningitis vaccination prior to the start of the semester/session.

Early Registration for Summer II and Fall Continues

Early registration for the Summer II Session and Fall Semester remains in progress. Early Registration hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Summer II Session classes begin July 11, and the Fall Semester begins August 27. Visit or call the Counseling Center at 409-944-1220 for additional information.
